The original Matador was a prewar conventional 4x2 forward control lorry.

In 1939 the same name was given to AEC's new Matador 4x4

This was soon followed by the Matador 6x6

After the war, several companies built Matador based Timber Tractors

1952 saw the introduction of the Militant Mk1

This was followed by the experimental multifuel Militant Mk2

Many of the design features of the Mk2 were incorporated in the diesel powered Militant Mk3

Finally, in 1970, there was the specialist Militant Mk3 Recovery
